The Teys team were proud to be a principal partner to Beef2024 and relished the opportunity to reconnect with our producer partners in Rockhampton, the Beef capital of Australia. The weeklong event from 5–11 May, is held every three years and is a celebration of this great industry that we know and love.
Our team were focused on the importance of relationships, sharing our experience, learning and listening and coming together all in one place, at the one time, to promote, advance and celebrate our sustainable beef industry.
Around the world
Beef2024 is now the largest event of its type in the Southern Hemisphere, and the week was truly a globally recognised event with the return of international visitors, and Beef TV for the first time streaming live across the world.
On the ground
This year, over 115,000 people passed through the gates, including 600 international delegates from across 35 countries.
The crowds came from around the country and from across the supply chain including producers, processors, customers, industry and government bodies, researchers, students, chefs, consumers and industry suppliers.
In the marquee
In the Teys marquee, our teams ran a series of information seminars tailored to meet the needs of our cattle producers. Seminars run across the week were delivered by Teys team members on brand programs, carcase feedback and also by external industry experts speaking on farm practices for animal health and a detailed update for meat grading impacts from advisors on MSA (Meat Standards Australia).
On the screen
For the first time, at Beef2024 a live broadcast of Beef TV ran across the week, attracting an audience of 79,000 viewers from across the world.
Teys experts spoke in a panel interview on Beef TV about consumer trends in beef that drive our focus and our sustainable operations across the Teys business.
And Teys also took the opportunity to promote our portfolio of beef brands on Beef TV advertising.
On the stage
The Beef 2024 National Carcase Competition awards dinner was also held a Beef2024.
Congratulations to our team at our Wagga processing facility. Teys at Wagga has won the inaugural award for the most successful plant at the AMPC National Beef Carcase Competition awards dinner held during Beef2024, beating 18 other processing plants from across the country.
This award, presented at the industry dinner event, acknowledges the beef processing plant that had achieved the highest score based on number of entries, pen scores and timeliness of the data submission for the competition. The award also recognises the hard work of staff of each participating plant that contributes to the success of the competition, which is also supported by MLA Meat Standards Australia.
In the ring
A highlight of the week in Rockhampton, drawing crowds from across the country, is the cattle judging. Teys was honoured to have one of our own, Group General Manager Livestock, Glenn Poole, announced as one of the judging panelists for the commercial cattle judging.
Glenn is a respected industry veteran with a livestock career spanning four decades, and it was a wonderful accolade to have his expertise judging the best of best for the commercial cattle on show in Rockhampton.
Down the street
This year, the Beef2024 event team increased the focus on food (beef of course!) with an expansion of the M’eat Street dining precinct.
The vibe was casual, country and crowded as attendees enjoyed the street vendors and their beef offerings. Teys was the sole brand supplier to Sethro’s Texas BBQ with our Teys Certified Angus beef cooked to a mouth-watering climax for the foodies and the just plain hungry out for a bite to eat!
Around the table
Teys was the also the sole sponsor for the Teys Main Event Dinner held on Thursday 9 May, as the weeklong event drew to a close.
Over 400 people – including many cattle producers – attended the three-course dinner at the Long Paddock venue, which featured Teys own brands of beef as showcased on the tailored menu.
The dinner was a fabulous opportunity for all guests and dignitaries to connect over dinner and share their views, experiences from the week, and wishes for the future.
Teys Chairman, Brad Teys, the host for the dinner, was proud to introduce the guest speaker, Australian sporting legend and former Wallabies Captain, John Eales. His speech was both inspiring and entertaining, and the crowd were enthralled by the stories from such an iconic Australian rugby great.
A passionate and positive wrap-up for the week. And at full time, it was certainly not goodbye, but see you all back in Rockhampton in 2027, where Teys is once again a principal partner and proud supporter of this legendary industry event, now called simply, Beef.
