Work Health and Safety

Our Commitment To Our Team

Teys starts and ends with our people

When you work with Teys, you quickly realise that we do everything we can to make sure our people are working in the safest and healthiest environment every day. We’ve worked hard to put in place leading health and safety practices, and we’re always striving to make our systems even better.

To us, safety has always been more than a list of check-boxes – keeping our people safe is the most important thing. We want everyone to return home from work safely every day. It’s part of our culture, and we’re focused on looking after our people and our communities now and for generations to come.

Our People

Supporting our team at all levels

We understand that when Work Health & Safety (WHS) policies are meaningful and practical, they’re easy for everyone to meet. Our WHS Managers and their teams work across all levels of our business, including at each of our operations around the country. This helps us tailor our practices to our people and our workplaces.

Our WHS teams include safety committees made up of on-site WHS Representatives across the business. These groups lead on-site discussions with our teams to help manage potential risks and make sure that our programs continue to be effective, practical and relevant. When it comes to safety, we know it’s our people on the ground that have the biggest impact.

Our Approach

Maintaining a positive safety culture starts with our people. We’ve taken the following actions to make sure our practices and programs are keeping our people safe and empowered across our whole business.

Leadership program
Injury and incident prevention
Safety Management System (SMS)

Our Actions

Focusing on prevention, leadership and training

Our WHS team runs an award-winning safety leadership program that empowers leaders at each of our operations to drive the safety performance of their teams.

Outside of our leadership program we make sure that everyone who works with us understands and promotes our ‘safety deal breakers’ – a set of practical rules and procedures to remove the chance of injuries.

To keep ahead of any potential risks, our Safety Management System (SMS) helps us prevent incidents and injuries by documenting, tracking and measuring safety performance across our operations.

Our Health Commitment

Doing more for our people

We understand that when our people are happy and healthy at work, it makes it even easier to stay safe. To give our people the best opportunity to stay healthy, and in physical and mental shape, we offer a range of fitness and mental health programs, including on-site fitness and conditioning centres at some sites.

We want to do more for our people. Our safety commitment is about making sure our people have everything they need to stay safe for themselves, their friends and their families.
