Congratulations Grant Garey – ALFA President

Congratulations to our own Grant Garey on his appointment to the role of president of the Australian Lot Feeders Association (ALFA).

In his role as General Manager of out Teys Feedlots, Grant has stewardship of our three feedlots at Condamine in Qld, Jindalee in NSW, and Charlton in Victoria, with a combined capacity of over 67,000 head – a role he has held at Teys since 2012.

Grant’s passion for lot feeding started in 1995 at Sandalwood Feedlot near Dalby, following his studies at UNE and completion of a Bachelor of Rural Science. And his dedication to the industry was formally recognised early on in his career, with the prestigious ALFA Young Lot Feeder of the Year Award in 2000.

Joining the ALFA Board in 2005 has enabled Grant to share his experience and knowledge of this great industry, becoming a trusted expert and dedicated advocate for lot feeding in Australia. He has held various ALFA Board positions in that time, most recently, as chair of the Audit & Risk Committee.

At Teys, Grant is focused on best practice for feedlot operations, leveraging technology, people and skills development and doing the very best, every day for the animals in our care. A mantra that he will continue as he takes on this core role as the voice for the industry.

Grant succeeds Barb Madden, from Smithfield Cattle Co, who steps down after 3 years as president.
