Program Overview

The MSA program is managed by Meat & Livestock Australia and is based on more than 800,000 consumer taste tests by more than 114,000 consumers from 11 countries. It assesses eating quality based on key traits including marbling, fat cover, carcass weight, ossification, and more.

Eligibility Requirements

To participate in MSA and sell into MSA-graded programs at Teys, producers must be registered with MSA, and the Livestock Production Assurance (LPA) program. Cattle must meet MSA specifications on age, handling, and processing conditions.

Grading & Feedback

Cattle are graded at participating processing plants, and producers receive detailed feedback through the MSA system to benchmark and improve herd performance over time.
