Simple but Delicious Barbeque Beef Rubs

It’s nearing Christmas, which as we’re sure you know is the ultimate time for barbeques with family and friends. So, we thought we’d get in early and equip you with some simple but effective barbeque rubs that are sure to impress. These rubs will taste equally as delicious with pan-fried or roasted beef.

One of our favourite things about rubs is that you can store them in an airtight container and keep them in your cupboard as handy go-to flavour enhancers for any occasion.

What is a rub?

A rub is basically a dry marinade that you rub into the surface of meat before you cook it. Rubs are an easy but effective way to enhance the flavour of meat without overpowering it. Rubs traditionally include spices, herbs, salt, pepper and other seasonings.

How to use dry rubs according to australianbeef.com.au

  • Use 2-3 tbsp of dry rub per 500g of meat.
  • Rub the mixture into the meat 20 minutes before barbequing or roasting. Use pressure when you rub so that it sticks evenly to the meat.
  • Remove any excess rub with a dry brush. Then, brush the meat lightly with oil before you cook it.
  • Squeeze a little lemon juice over the meat as it cooks. This stops the spices and herbs from burning.
